2000  Cardinals rookie Keith McDonald hits a HR in the 2^nd inning and becomes only the second player in MLB history to homer in his first 2 at bats (Bob Nieman in 1951) – he also homered for his 3^rd hit of the season – went 0-2 next season ending his career with 3 hits, 3 HRs, 9 at bats and 5 RBI

1999  Rookie Chris Singleton of White Sox hits for the cycle – 1^st rookie since 1985, and only 16^th since 1900, he went 5 for 6

1990  Andy Hawkins of NYY pitches 12 innings and loses to the Twins giving up only 6 hits, his previous start on July 1 he no hit the White Sox and lost 4-0

1986  Bob Horner of Atlanta is the 11^th player in MLB history to hit 4 HRs in a game, but they lost to Expos – only 2^nd player to hit 4 in a losing effort (Ed Delahanty 7/13/1896)

1983  AL wins 1^st All-Star game since 1971

1980  Steve Carlton gets 7 K’s against Cardinals bringing his total to 2,836 – most by a left hander (Mickey Lolich had 2,832)
