2003  Pirates Randall Simon is suspended and fined for hitting one of the Milwaukee sausage mascots with a bat during the sausage race on July 9
2002  Marlins trade Ryan Dempster – they are left with 15,000 Dempster bobble heads that they had scheduled as a promotion
2000  Derek Jeter goes 3 for 3 in All-Star game and is named MVP
1996  Curt Schilling of Philadelphia beats the Expos 3-2 – ends club record 14 straight road losses
1989  Bo Jackson wins All-Star MVP
1987  Cal Ripken’s brother Billy joins the Orioles lineup – father Cal Ripken Sr. is first to manage two sons in MLB
