2001  Atlanta Hawks retire Dominique Wilkins # 21 – career 26,668 points/24.8 per game average
1999  Michael Jordan announces his retirement – 2nd time doing so – career 32,292 points/ 30.1 per game average
1982  Hank Aaron and Frank Robinson elected to Hall of Fame –
Aaron: .305 average, 755 HRs, 2,297, 21 time All-Star
Robinson: .294 average, 586 HRs, 1,182 RBI, only player to win MVP in both leagues
1974  Super Bowl VIII is won by Miami as they beat Minnesota 24-7 – Larry Csonka named MVP – ran for 145 yards and 2 TDs
1962  Wilt Chamberlain scored 73 points in a game vs. Chicago – it was NBA record at the time
