2001  Larry Brown of 76ers gets his 800th coaching win – 9th to do so
2001  Tim Duncan scores his career high 53 points in a game vs. Dallas
1995  The Associated Press chooses Cal Ripken’s consecutive game streak as the top sports story of the year
1991  Chuck Noll retires after 23 years as NFL coach – won 4 Super Bowls
1986  Doug Jarvis sets a record when he skates in his 916th consecutive NHL game – will end with 964
1976  Larry Kenon of San Antonio sets a NBA record with 11 steals in a game – record tied in 1999
1964  Willie Naulls replaces an injured Tommy Heinsohn in the Celtics lineup – he along with Tom Sanders, KC Jones, Sam Jones, and Bill Russell are the 1st all black starting five
